PROJECT OVERVIEW

Intersections Magazine is a magazine published by the Cal Poly College of Science and Math every year that highlights some of the biggest research projects, events, and people in the college. I had the pleasure of providing many of the photographs featured in the magazine.

PHOTOSHOOT PROCESS

My supervisors had the idea to have real students and faculty shown on the front cover in front of a new wall at Cal Poly that reads ‘DISCERE FACIENDO’ (‘Learn By Doing’ in Latin). The goal was to get them slightly out of focus while walking into the building which took some time to get exactly right as can be seen by the contact sheet to the right.

FINAL CAMERA SPECS USED:

ISO 100
F 7.1
SHUTTERSPEED 1/25

GET TO PHOTOSHOPPIN’

The wall that our photoshoot was at was still partially under construction and there were some construction pieces that we we had to work around. The photo that had the best looking composition had cones and a wooden structure in front of it. What an eye sore! With some photoshopping I was able to remove it and it made all the difference.
